We want to be 100% honest with you. Our AI features — Dudi AI Chat Bot and Dudi PDF Chat — are different from our PDF editing tools. Here is exactly how they work:
📤 What data is sent to our server?
- Your question or prompt (the text you type in the chat box).
- The relevant content needed to answer you:
- For AI Chat Bot: your message plus short conversation context.
- For PDF Chat: the top 2–3 paragraphs of your PDF that are most relevant to your question (not the whole PDF).
- Basic request info (timestamp, language preference) used only for reliability.
🔐 Why is this data sent to the server?
AI models like GPT (OpenAI) and Gemini (Google) are too large to run inside a browser. They require powerful servers with GPUs. So when you ask a question:
- Your question + relevant content goes to our secure Dudi server.
- Our server forwards it to the AI provider (OpenAI / Gemini) through an encrypted API.
- The AI generates an answer and sends it back to you.
- This entire flow takes a few seconds.
Without server-side processing, AI Chat is technically impossible. We are being fully transparent about this instead of hiding it.
⚠️ Important — What you should NOT share
Because AI Chat content passes through our server, please do not share:
- Aadhaar, PAN, passport, or any ID numbers
- Bank account details, credit card numbers, UPI IDs
- Passwords, OTPs, private keys, or API tokens
- Medical reports, legal contracts, or confidential business data
- Any personal information you would not want processed by an AI model
For sensitive documents, use our PDF editing tools instead — those run 100% in your browser with zero server contact.
🕒 How long is the data kept?
- On our server: The request is processed in real-time and not stored permanently. Logs are kept only for basic reliability (error tracking) and are purged automatically.
- On AI provider side: Our API calls are configured to not allow training on your data. However, providers may keep a short-term abuse-detection log per their policies. Please read OpenAI and Google privacy policies for full details.
- In your browser: Your chat history stays in your browser's local storage. You can delete it anytime from the sidebar.

Dudi PDF Editor collects as little as possible. We do not require accounts for PDF tools. For AI features we also keep collection minimal:
- Anonymous usage analytics (page views, tool usage) via Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics — never linked to your files.
- Basic technical data (browser type, device type) to improve compatibility.
- AI Chat requests — your prompt and relevant content, sent to our server, forwarded to AI providers, not permanently stored.
- Local chat history — stored only in your browser's localStorage, not on our server.

2. How We Handle PDF Files (Editing Tools)
All PDF editing tools use client-side technologies like WebAssembly (WASM) to perform operations locally. Your documents never leave your device for these tasks — period.
3. How We Handle AI Chat & PDF Chat Data
Our AI features need server-side processing. Here is exactly what happens when you use them:
- Your question and any relevant PDF content (top 2–3 paragraphs, not the full file) are sent to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
- Our server calls an AI provider API (OpenAI / Gemini) to generate the response.
- The response is streamed back to you and shown in the chat.
- The request is not permanently stored. Only basic error logs may exist briefly, and they are auto-purged.
- Your PDF file itself is never uploaded in full — only the small relevant slice needed to answer your current question.
- Your chat history is stored locally in your browser, not on our server. You can delete it anytime.
4. Browser-Based Processing (PDF Tools)
Our PDF tools run on your device using HTML5 Canvas, WebAssembly, and JavaScript. This eliminates the need for server-side processing for editing tasks.
You can verify this yourself: open Developer Tools (F12), go to the Network tab, and use any PDF editing tool. You will see no file upload requests — only client-side activity.
5. Analytics & Cookies
We use Google Analytics (ID: G-SWD13J3C5B) and Vercel Web Analytics to understand general usage patterns. These services may set cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may be affected.
We do not use analytics to track your files, document content, or AI chat content.
6. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services:

Each provider has its own privacy policy. We only send the minimum data required for each feature to function. We do not share your PDF files with them — only the relevant text snippets needed to answer your AI question.

We take security seriously. Because PDF editing happens locally, you are protected from server-side leaks for those tools. For AI features, all traffic uses HTTPS encryption end-to-end.
Always use updated browsers and secure devices. For highly sensitive documents, prefer the offline PDF editing tools.

Dudi PDF Editor is a general-purpose website and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents and guardians should guide children in safe internet use.
